Next step toward new building: Preliminary rental agreements signed

By signing the preliminary rental agreements, Petra Burmeister and Tim Menke from the municipal utility company GGS, Peter Südbeck from the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park Authority, and Sascha Klöpper from the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS) have now taken an important step towards the construction of the Trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Centre. The agreements were signed in the presence of Lower Saxony's Environment Minister Christian Meyer.

For construction of the Centre at Banter Lake to commence, the Wilhelmshaven City Council had set various conditions to secure its financing. One of these conditions was that the future tenants had to confirm the planned tenancy agreement in advance by signing it.

For CWSS’s Executive Secretary Sascha Klöpper, the signing of the preliminary lease agreements marks a special moment: “We are very pleased that the signing of the agreements has now become possible. This is an important step both for trilateral protection of the Wadden Sea and for the city of Wilhelmshaven as a location.”

The municipal company GGS, which is responsible for the new building, has completed the preliminary work to such an extent that the first major tender for the construction work can now be published. If everything goes according to plan, construction is expected to begin this summer.
