On 8-10 November 2023, the representatives of more than 20 visitor centres and the Wadden Sea Youth met on the East Frisian Island of Norderney for their annual trilateral workshop.

In April 2023, a group of renowned researchers from nine countries met on the Wadden Sea Hallig Langeneß for the “East Atlantic Flyway Week”, organised by LT&C, WWF, and Schutzstation Wattenmeer.

In early 2023, a large outbreak of the or avian flu was documented in West Africa. In The Gambia, more than 7,500 waterbirds have died around coastal nature reserves.
